We can only post whatever the ground photographers are seeing and once in a while they might be sitting in that nest #2-not building it as they always have except when the owls were apparently using that nest. When Harriet and M15 first returned to the pasture after the hurricane they did indeed visit that nest and even placed a few sticks there but where they are building a nest right now is in the original nest tree in exactly the same place in the tree. Kcshylo the photo that you are referring to is indeed the nest #2 in the West pasture. See above picture,( bottom page 4 SWFEC HWF) It is the tree that looks like it has no top to it. Hello Kcshylo, this picture is of the #2 nest in West pasture. It was great to see then both on the power poles! Neither of them did work on the nest this am, but they deserve a break like all of do.
And it is great to see them return like H & M did. Multitudes of birds are gathering in the nest area. H & M have plenty of time to rebuild as Harriet normally does not lay eggs until late November. Experienced eagles can build a suitable nest for eggs in 10 +/- days. They will take breaks from building their new nest. On my visit today, I saw both H & M as they watched their nest from a ways away. Hurricane IAN blew the old nest out of the tree but that did not deter our couple. Harriet & M15 have made good progress on building a new nest in the exact spot the old nest was in the original nest tree.
